Rumor: Google will launch a mobile phone called Nexus One

Some blogs and technology web sites are posting news about the Google Phone.  This mobile phone would have a personalizaed version of Android, a touch screen a little bigger than the iPhone’s, and all the capabilities of a great smartphone.

Maybe it will be manufactured by HTC, but we don´t know that for sure, and the rumors says that Google will sell it unlocked so you can use it with any carrier.

How to set Mobile Ads in your mobile site

Google has done a good work when you want to monetize your web site or blog, but what are the options for a mobile site?, let me give you a start… I tried in my blog so you can see the ads if you go to http://pablogil.insitumobile.com from your mobile phone browser.

1.  Choose your publisher platform: Like adsense from Google, there are mobile market place for ads, you can try Admob (recently acquired by Google), AdmodaZestADZDecktrade, etc.

2. Register: Register in one or several of the above market places, once you are done you will get an email to activate your account

3. Register your mobile site or application: Most of this sites lets you register a mobile web site (writed in php, jsp, asp, wml, xhtnl, etc.) or an application (currently there are only support for iPhone and Android OS).  Once you register the site it will show you the code snippet, this code is available in serveral lenguages supported by that market place like php, jsp, as I mentioned above. If you selected an android or iPhone ad, you will have to download the SDK or just copy and paste the code.

4. Copy paste the code: To place the ads in your web site you just have to copy and paste the code from the parket place to part of your site you want to dislplay the ads.

5. Set the parameters: In the code, just read the comments (the part next to “//”)  and you will figure it out, for example, change te mode (change “test” to “live”) or set the advertising id, etc.

6. Try it: Visit your mobile site from a mobile browser to see the ads.

7. Reporting: The market place you choose must have a reporting section, so you can see the impressions statistics, clicks, and revenue.

Facebook blackberry users gets 11 M

Monthly Active Users (MAU) 11,282,355

AppData is reporting that RIM’s Facebook app has 11,282,355 active users which puts it in the number 15 spot on the leaderboard of Facebook apps. Considering there are only around 28.5 million BlackBerry subscribers and Facebook isn’t preloaded on all those devices, it’s definitely an accomplishment.

Daily Active Users (DAU) 6,360,486

With over 6 million users visiting Facebook from their BlackBerry on a daily basis, there is a huge opportunity here for the native Facebook app. This should be justification alone for RIM to spend more money on updating the app to something as close to the full Facebook experience as possible.

MAU/DAU 0.56

RIM’s MAU/DAU ratio is really good at 0.56 and it puts them at the number 10 spot on the leaderboard. This tells us that of the total monthly user base, a significant amount of those users are highly active. This is pretty cool considering the app has a really limited amount of functionality, compared to the full Facbeook experience.

Android handset distribution US market

#Android handset distribution is leaded by HTC, some weeks ago there was the Motorola #Droid launch, powered with the new Android version 2.0. The picture below shows the android handset distribution in the US market thanks to #Admob.

Android users, feel free to post your comments about user experience.

iPhone is coming to South Korea

Apple Inc’s iPhone is coming to South Korea this week, a local carrier announced Sunday, bringing the iconic communications device to one of the world’s most sophisticated mobile phone markets.

KT Corp. began accepting orders for the iPhone both online and in stores Sunday and service will start Nov. 28 as part of an official launch, said Alice Park, a spokeswoman for the country’s second-largest mobile carrier.

The announcement ends a long wait in South Korea, which has lagged behind other countries in Asia in introducing the sleek smartphone that has grabbed headlines around the world and solidified Apple’s status as a purveyor of cutting-edge consumer electronics.

The South Korean market is dominated by domestic manufacturers Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc., which are also big players overseas. Speculation has focused on how South Korean consumers, known for favoring the local makers, will react to the iPhone’s introduction.Steve Park, Apple’s spokesman in Seoul, confirmed KT’s announcement, but declined further comment and would offer no sales projections.

The iPhone made its formal debut in China late last month via local partner China Unicom Ltd. It went on sale in Japan last year and is also available in India and Australia, as well as other countries in the region.Worldwide the iPhone is available in 86 countries and territories and will be soon in four more, according to Apple’s Web site. Despite KT’s announcement, the site still did not mention South Korea.

“We are thrilled to bring iPhone to South Korea,” Kim Woo-sik, CEO of KT’s personal customer group, said in a press release. “Our customers will enjoy the power and benefits of using the revolutionary iPhone on KT’s 3G network.”The iPhone’s introduction was delayed by regulatory hurdles, the last of which was overcome on Wednesday when the Korea Communications Commission approved the granting of a business license to Apple to offer so-called location based services.Location-based services include functions such as maps and direction finders that are included on the iPhone. South Korean law requires companies that provide such applications to obtain government permission.SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest mobile carrier, has also been in discussions with Apple about offering the iPhone. Spokeswoman Lauren Kim said Sunday that SK Telecom had not made any decision regarding the iPhone.
